Fall Internship -- Communications


Makovsky + Company, one of the largest independent integrated communications firms in New York, is seeking diligent and enthusiastic intern candidates for their Fall 2012 Internship Program!

About the Program:
The program is a three month (Sept.- Dec.) thorough and rewarding training experience where you will work side-by side-with seasoned professionals on a daily basis.  They are focused and dedicated on executing campaigns for blue chip clients in health, financial services, tech + energy markets, branding + interactive, professional services, and investor relations.

Qualifications:
They are looking for bright and driven candidates who are detail-oriented team players. Excellent written and verbal communications are a must, in addition to strong research skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Candidates must be available for a minimum 20 hours a week for part-time candidates or 40 hours/week for full-time candidates. (Candidates should indicate their preference in their cover letters.)

Job Description:  
Interns in the Media Relations department within MSNBC will work with a small and substantial team that handles the daily PR and events of a 24-hour news network. Interns assist the staff by pulling daily press clips, distributing transcripts via online programs, contribute to info.msnbc.com, research, assist pitching individuals and shows to new outlets, accompanying publicists to different events/photo shoots, compiling contact information and a variety of additional tasks.

Qualifications:
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
• Eligible to receive academic credit
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Authorized to participate in an unpaid internship in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous work experience in an office environment
• Previous internship experience

**This is an especially exciting time with the election taking place this year! There are 3 spots open and MSNBC is flexible with students’ schedules.  Usually interns are in the office 2 – 3 days a week, working 15 – 20 hours a week. Summer interns are finished the first week of August, so if any student that can start before school starts are welcome to apply!

 Job Description:
- Responsible for making a significant contribution to the Quantitative Product and Customer Data Analysis process.
- Responsible for applying analytical modeling techniques to monitoring and reporting for International Regulatory compliance across all countries.
- Maintains and improves forecasting for customer behavior models.
- Design and implement, and then continually automate reporting on marketing demographics of existing customers and regulatory reporting. 

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required with a major in Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Finance, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field with a quantitative orientation; Master's degree preferred.
-Minimum of three years' work experience in data/quantitative analysis, modeling or related areas is also required.
-Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, Visual Basic and Access.
-Must have advanced SAS and Excel skills.
-Strong analytical, technical and statistical background required.
-Self-starting. Problem solver.
-Must have a background in financial services, understanding of securities.
-Business analyst background; ability to do project work.
