The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is accepting
applications from college students for unpaid internships with our office
during the fall school term.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is one of the
largest prosecutor's offices in the country, serving 2.5 million residents of
Brooklyn. Brooklyn is one of the most dynamic business and cultural centers of
New York, and, by number of residents, the 3rd largest city in the country. Our
Office partners with the community at large by working with local and regional
community groups as well as other law enforcement agencies to improve public
safety, to increase the quality of life for the community, and to ensure all
its citizens are treated fairly, justly and with compassion. With the arrival
of District Attorney Kenneth P. Thompson in January, 2014, the Office is
positioned to become the preeminent platform for the criminal justice system in
the nation, making this an especially exciting time to join the Office. Our
goal is to hire the best and most committed public servants. Our ADAs come from
a diversity of backgrounds and we are committed to hiring and retaining lawyers
and staff who represent a wide range of diversity in every sense of the word.
College intern duties may include trial preparations, such
as interviewing witnesses with Assistant District Attorneys, and drafting
subpoenas; duties supporting community related programming may involve
organizing special events and trainings.
Interns are assigned to one of the specialized bureaus listed below or
to a general trial zone. Applications should
include a copy of your resume, a one-page statement of interest (not longer
than 1 page) indicating which area(s) of the office you are most interested in,
along with a copy of your resume, college transcript, and three references. Language skills in Spanish, Creole, and
Russian are helpful but not required.
Interested? Applications should be sent in ASAP. For more
