The New York Botanical Garden, a National Historic Landmark and one of NYC’s premier cultural institutions, seeks candidates to join their Visitor Services Department as Seasonal Attendants and Seasonal Tram Drivers.  The New York Botanical Garden is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization.  It is the largest in any city in the United States spanning 250 acres of landscape, 50 curated display gardens, and array of programs, exhibitions, and activities.  The Garden also houses the most important botanical and horticultural library in the world. 

Seasonal Attendant
Summary of Responsibilities:
This is a seasonal position. Seasonal Attendants greet and serve visitors to provide the best possible visitor experience. Seasonal Attendants sell admissions, parking tickets, encourage and sell memberships, and guide visitors to locations of interest through the Garden in a friendly and professional manner.

- Attain knowledge of ticket types for all Garden activities.
- Keep up to date and knowledgeable on all Garden events and current exhibitions; inform visitors about all areas of the Garden.
- Become familiar in admissions apparatus and policies.
- Encourage and carry out membership sales transactions.
- Inform visitors about all attractions and exhibits.
- Conduct all transactions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Visitor Services Department and The New York Botanical Garden.
- Perform other duties as specified and needed by department management.

Requirements:
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, to be outdoors, and to sit and/or stand for long periods.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be available to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
- Ability to carry 25 lbs.
- Previous customer service experience desired.
- Rate of pay is $8/hr. 

Seasonal Tram Driver
Summary of Responsibilities:
This is a seasonal position. Seasonal Tram Drivers operate Tram vehicles in a safe and professional manner as outlined in the Tram Driver Training Manual with emphasis on customer service and vehicular safety.  The Seasonal Tram Drivers provide narration for the tour of the Garden grounds, collections, and exhibits, when necessary.

- Maintenance of vehicle including fueling and cleaning.
- Safely transport passengers through the Garden grounds while providing narrative explanation.
- Observance of all institutional and departmental policies and protocols.
- Conduct all transactions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Visitor Services Department.
- Act as a Visitor Services Attendant and/or perform other duties as needed.

Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license for a minimum of one year.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, to be outdoors, and to sit and/or stand for long periods.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be available to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
- Previous customer service experience desired.
- Ability to carry 25 lbs.
- Rate of pay is $12/hr.

An Accounting/Finance major is wanted... the Late Show with David Letterman has an opening for a FALL 2013 internship, working with our Production Finance Department.

This hands-on assignment will teach you how a TV Production and Development Management office runs, with an emphasis on the financial and operational aspects of the Late Show. You’ll observe our Finance team work on various projects, including banking and accounts payable. This is a perfect opportunity for a Finance or Accounting major to learn more about your chosen field and get a glimpse into the entertainment industry.

You MUST receive credit for the internship, which is unpaid.  An interest in television is helpful.   We require 2 days (or 16 hours) per week. You can select which days and hours work best for you.  We’d like you to start on August 19th and remain with us until mid December.

General Description:
Position assists the execution of New York City/Long Island/Northern New Jersey promotions for major movie studios and other entertainment clients.  Position start date is flexible, with the potential to stay on for additional semesters, depending on quality of work.  The ability to work 3-4 days (partial or full, minimum of 14 hours) a week plus some evenings and weekends for special events is required.  The internship is not paid hourly, but some events pay a one-time fee on a case by case basis. All applicants must be able to receive college credit and provide proof via appropriate documentation. Candidate must be a junior or high in academic standing.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

- Assisting the promotions department in executing studio directives in the NYC area
- Developing local grassroots promotions to create word of mouth buzz for each film
- Researching and contacting potential partners and word of mouth groups for each movie
- Brainstorming and executing movie-themed events
- Responsible for creating college focused marketing and promotional campaigns
- Helping with promotional item mailings and organizing/maintaining our promo item inventory
- Attending pre-release movie screenings and writing screening reports   
- Attending a variety of promotional events including movie premieres, red carpet events, street team appearances and talent appearances to represent Allied and our NYC office

Preferred skills/experience:
- Excellent overall communication (phone, email, interpersonal, etc.) and writing (grammar, punctuation, etc.) skills
- Knowledge of New York City and the surrounding areas
- Flexible, resourceful and able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing and growing environment
- Detail-oriented and creative
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects with a sense of urgency while also maintaining priorities and focus
- Team-oriented and willing to help other staff with projects when necessary, but also possess the ability to work independently if needed
- Knowledge of social media including Twitter, Facebook, FourSquare, Word Press, etc. is a plus
- Outgoing personality and sense of humor highly desirable!
