Part Time Position: Botanical Gardens Seasonal Attendant

Rose Hill students: are you looking for a part time, seasonal job with almost no commute? Here's the perfect job for you!

This is a seasonal part-time position. Attendants greet and serve visitors to provide the best possible visitor experience. Attendants also sell admissions, parking tickets, encourage and sell memberships and guide visitors to locations of interest through the Garden in a friendly and professional manner.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
• Attain knowledge of ticket types for all Garden activities
• Keep up-to-date and knowledgeable on all Garden events and current exhibitions; inform visitors about all areas of the Garden
• Become familiar in admissions apparatus and policies
• Encourage and carry out membership sales transactions
• Inform visitors about all attractions and exhibits
• Conduct all transactions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Visitor Services Department and the New York Botanical Garden
• Perform other duties as specified and needed by department management

Qualifications
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, to be outdoors, and to sit and/or stand for long periods
• Must have excellent communications skills
• Must be available to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays
• Ability to carry 25 lbs
• Previous customer service experience desired

The New York Botanical Garden needs Part Time workers!


New York Botanical Garden will be hosting a Seasonal Job Fair on October 15th 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm in room 312 in the Watson Building.
They are looking to hire Seasonal Visitor Services Tram Drivers, and Seasonal Visitor Services Attendants.
 
  • Seasonal Visitor Services Tram Drivers- must operate Tram vehicles in a safe and professional manner as outlined in their Tram Driver Training Manual. Candidates must possess customer service and vehicular safety skills. The Seasonal Tram Drivers provide narration for the tour of the Garden grounds, collections and exhibits, when necessary.

Part Time Opportunity: The NY Public Library

The Out of School Time division within the NY Public Library is hiring!

They are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide individual mentorship and academic assistance to middle school children in their “Innovation Labs” program for grades 6 - 8.  The middle school Innovation Labs programs is semester-long after-school enrichment programs at the West Farms Library in the Bronx.  Innovation Labs seeks to aid students in their development of 21st century skills, adolescent identity, and voice by providing a variety of digital and non-digital project-based learning opportunities in a uniquely informal environment, while also offering personal mentorship and homework help from dedicated staff.

The qualified mentor will have the opportunity to assist programming staff in developing best practices for middle school programming and to learn about student-centered arts and literacy education in the context of a large urban library system.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
The Innovation Labs Mentor will work under the supervision of the Education Coordinator and will:
- Develop positive relationships with students that foster their academic and personal growth.
- Support individual student academic and organizational needs as assigned
- Assist students in “Homework Help” area as assigned
- Assist students and answer questions as they work through program projects, assignments, and activities as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Time Commitment:
- Must commit to a full shift, 2:45pm - 5:45pm, minimum 2 days per week
- Option of Monday/Wednesdays, Tuesday/Thursdays, or all 4 days Monday-Thursday

CNN: Two Day Paid Stand-in Opportunity!


CNN is looking for some students to work as stand-ins for upcoming rehearsals next week!

They will be filming their annual show “CNN Heroes” that honors individuals who make extraordinary contributions to humanitarian aid and make a real difference in their communities. The show will be taped on Tuesday night, November 19th, and is set to air on Sunday, December 1st. 

Stand-ins are needed this coming Monday, November 18th from 7-11pm, and on Tuesday November 19th from 8am-4pm.

Stand-ins should be comfortable with public speaking – they will be asked to carry on conversations to test our audio equipment, etc.  Additionally, as a stand-in, you’ll get to role play as the host of the show, a celebrity presenter, or a CNN Hero to rehearse blocking for our camera shots, audio, lighting, etc. Students with an interest in theatre, broadcast media, etc may be best suited for this – but it’s open to anyone.  

If selected, you’ll get paid: $10/hour.
