About the Internship: 
The intern will learn about all aspects of merchandising and product development while supporting the merchandising team.  The intern will assist the team by preparing for presentations and meetings, preparing product knowledge tools, maintaining the color library, swatches and pique stickers and participating in competitive research.

The position is located in New York, NY. For students interested in fashion merchandising, sales and marketing, the intern will assist in the following departments:

Merchandising Division:
Production
- Aid in general preparation of seasons, for market such as swatch books receipt and preparation, sales sample preparation (check in, organization, delivery, stickers, and removal of country of origin label.)
- Organization of color library, swatches and pique stickers
- Creation of season color cards
- Aid in the development/ maintenance of the season structure
- Participate in an afternoon of competitive shopping
- Shopping for Proto- types for US special Development
- Work with visual to develop key looks for in-store visual presentation

Visual
- Work with the field merchandiser-learn standards/visual impact/flow of product/ communication/ creating floor maps/ completing a branch recap/ & understanding business trends (+) or (-) percentage to plan and stock levels.
- Aid in creation of in store presentations
- Develop fixture layout plan to accommodate units ordered
- Create tools to maximize overall performance of field merchandisers
- Work with merchandising to develop and execute merchandising guidelines at P.O.S
- Coordinate and execute shop installs, collateral, and merchandising directives
- Coordinate with each account on directives for the season

Wholesale Division
Sales
- Prepare for sales meeting with retailers- making sure showroom is in order
- Sit in on market appointments with all major department stores

Retail Division - Madison Avenue/Fifth Avenue
- Work in our boutiques on: Visual merchandising- floor moves, changes, garment presentation and standards
- Salesmanship-standards of customer courtesy, phone orders, RPRO computer system training
- Operations-daily store and individual goals, receiving’s, stock maintenance, store report overview

PR Marketing Division
- Aid in preparation of press kits
- Regular maintenance of sample closet
- Organization of samples by season to be returned to warehouse
- Sales samples preparation (check in, organization, delivery, stickers, removal of country of origin label).
- Tracking of product lending for stylists and magazine editors
- Maintaining and updated credit book

REQUIREMENTS
- Required time in boutiques
- Interview is required
- For college credit only, internship is unpaid, housing is not provided

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in Excel and Word for Windows
- Understanding of retail seasons and delivery flow a plus
- Excellent analytical skills
- Interest in learning about fashion merchandising from a sale and marketing point-of-view
- Detail oriented

COMPENSATION: The Lacoste internship is unpaid and for credit only. There is no reimbursement for travel or meals.
