Full-Time Opportunities: Search For Change organization

Search for Change is looking to hire recent graduates for two full-time positions. Applicants should have a psychology or social science background. This organization is located in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

1 - Residential Counselor - The goal of the counselor is to teach the skills and provide or secure the support necessary for adults with serious mental illness in SfC residential services to achieve their overall rehabilitation goal and move on to more independent living.

Responsibilities include:
- Delivering Medicaid-reimbursable restorative services that are directly related to the achievement of the client's independent living goals. This includes, but is not limited to, being very hands-on with clients in modeling various daily life skills (i.e making beds, cleaning bathrooms, preparing meals, etc.)
- Creating and maintaining the service plans, progress notes, and other written documentation required to support the client's services
- Ensuring that clients receive the proper types and amounts of medication as prescribed by their physician
- Driving clients to community based programs, appointments, and other services on a daily basis

Salary: $13.00-13.50 per hour

Ideal candidates should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related field and some experience in the mental health field preferred
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency required and five years of experience working in a rehabilitation environment
- Bilingual a plus
- A valid driver's license for more than three years and insurability as adriver on SfC's auto policy required

2 - Vocational Counselor Coordinator - The Vocational Counselor Coordinator conducts individualized vocational assessments for interested applicants or ACCES referrals to the program, assists the clients in developing their appropriate job search skills, and works with the Job Developer to connect the client to an appropriate job match

Responsibilities include:
- Assessing a client’s strengths and barriers to employment using Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation (DVE)
- Working with clients to assess and develop soft skills applicable to vocational
- Job search assistance through utilization of all community resources (i.e. employment agencies, state employment services, classified advertisements, local job fairs, networking)
- Job development by establishing cooperative relations with local employers:
- Marketing program to prospective employers
- Developing internships through advocacy work for clients in the community
- Providing weekly individualized meetings with graduates and primary clients
- Maintaining documentation to support progress made
- Conducting screening interviews with potential ACCES-VR clients
- Job coaching as necessary

Salary: $14.00-$14.50 per hour

Ideal candidate should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing or Human Services plus 1-2 years experience doing job placement or supported employment preferred
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills required 
- Valid driver’s license and insurability as a driver under SfC’s auto policy is required
